The avatars that represent the player in Aion are unique beings called Daeva. Considered demigods, the Daeva are hybrids of omnipotent divinity and fragile mortality. Born from mortal beings, Daeva initially develop as any human would, but those blessed with the destiny of becoming a Daeva will show exceptional qualities early on in their lives. It is only through hardship or a significant event that a potential Daeva will awaken the dormant powers within and ascend as a true Daeva.

Daeva differ from common mortals in that they are able to control Aether (more on this coming soon). While it is theoretically possible for humans to control Aether, it would take a tremendous amount of effort and training; very few mortals have found success in their attempts. Even those that managed to acquire the skill found their abilities limited. It is understood and accepted that Daeva are fundamentally superior to mankind in this aspect.

One further quality that sets Daevas apart from mortals is their indestructibility. When bodies of humans are destroyed they are met with death. For Daeva, Aether is used by their spirits to revive their bodies. At times there may be side effects such as memory loss, but a sense of permanent death is something a Daeva will never need to fear.

Daeva enjoy a distinctive place amongst the different NPC creatures of Aion. They are given exclusive rights as rulers and act as protectors of humans from savage races such as the Balaur and the Krall. Human NPCs will express respect and gratitude to any Daeva who watch over them and protect their kind in battle.

As a Daeva you have the opportunity to fight for a just cause, one that brings victory and honour to your own kind, while protecting those placed under your rule.

Divine Power (DP) is a force accumulated over time and released at a strategic point in combat. Mortals who have witnessed its tremendous power coined the phrase Divine Power, a power so great it can only be harnessed by Daeva.


DP is gained in increments by fighting monsters or the Balaur, all of which possess a certain amount of Aether. When a Daeva successfully slays a monster, this energy is released and absorbed as Divine Power. Due to the nature of this energy, it can be collected, stored and used to deal unimaginable destruction. When DP reaches maximum, a single blow of celestial force can be unleashed causing huge damage to all in the surrounding area.





DP may also be used outside of combat, to craft items for example. Ore used in creating higher quality weapons or armour can be refined using DP, only Daeva have the ability to create such items. Items imbued with DP hold exceptionally powerful qualities.

DP is slowly accumulated through battle but lost when the player leaves the game session. It can however be transferred to another character if so desired. If there is grave danger or a need to craft certain items in a short period of time, the ability to pool DP could prove critical.

DP is an important resource within Aion both strategically and economically, its effective use will determine a character’s strength and progression in the game.

The Elyos is one of the central races embroiled in Aion’s endless struggle for power. Although they bear similarities to what we would refer to as angels, the background and history behind the Elyos is fundamentally different. Sharing the same origins with the Asmodians, the Elyos evolved into their current form, now prevalent as the superior race in Aion.

In the beginning, the Elyos and Asmodians were both a part of a sacred race in charge of protecting the Tower of Eternity. During the Millennium Wars the protectors were divided into two factions. Following the tragic destruction of the Tower, the two sides turned on one another, each blaming the other for the Tower’s demise, and they became bitter enemies… The two races are now sworn to eternal retribution, consumed by a burning hatred and desire to exact their



On one hand, the Elyos can be comforting, with a warm, friendly manner. Against foes however, no such trace of warmth or benevolence can be found. Beneath their beautiful, angelic wings, they carry great strength that belies their graceful facade.
Under the control of Azariel, the inhabitants of the Elyos kingdom of Elysea, whilst resolute in their crusade against the Asmodians, must also remain alert against the Balaur who watch vigilantly for a chance to attack.
